Amy Elfner is one of the two Wisconsin Statewide Parent-Educator Initiative (WSPEI) Family Engagement Coordinators for Cooperative Educational Service Agency 1 (CESA 1) in south-east Wisconsin.
She is a native Wisconsinite and mom to three children, all of whom have or are currently receiving their education in a Wisconsin public school. Her youngest son is a fun-loving 14-year-old with Down syndrome.
For the past 20 years Amy has served in leadership and volunteer positions for a non-profit organization that focused on supporting women new to motherhood, at a parent cooperative pre-school and with an organization supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families. She has been an active volunteer and involved parent throughout her children’s school years.
As a WSPEI Family Engagement Coordinator Amy can provide information and personal support and mentoring to families that encourage them to be an educated participant in their child’s education. WSPEI has a variety of services that offer support to families and school staff. In this role, Amy shares information about resources and organizations that serve families and educators of students with disabilities. She also works with families and schools in the CESA 1 area providing resources which encourage communication and building relationships. These relationships are a foundation for achieving the expectation of better outcomes for all students. Success in school, at home and as a contributing member of their community allows our children to be their best self.
Amy provides support for the Arrowhead, Cedarburg, Elmbrook, Grafton, Hamilton, Hartland-Lakeside, Kettle Moraine, Lake Country, Menomonee Falls, Merton Community, Mequon-Thiensville, Mukwanago, Muskego, Norway, New Berlin, Norris, North Lake, Northern Ozaukee, Oconomowoc, Pewaukee, Port Washingon-Saukville, Richmond, Tone Bank, Swallow, and Waukesha school districts.
